AREAS OF ACTIVITY:

The Anaesthesia Service is located in the Tamaris Building – 4th floor.

The anaesthesia team works together with the surgeon to manage the patient before, during and after surgery, aiming to ensure their complete safety and offer the best possible care.

The anaesthetist uses a variety of anaesthesia techniques including: general anaesthesia, locoregional anaesthesia (epidural, spinal anaesthesia, peripheral nerve blocks, infiltration), and postoperative pain management (patient-controlled analgesia, continuous peripheral nerve blocks).

The anaesthetist’s care of the patient begins with the pre-anaesthetic consultation, which is mandatory in advance of any anaesthetic procedure, regardless of type. It continues when the patient leaves the recovery room and over the following days on the wards and, if required, in intensive care. In all anaesthetic techniques and procedures, the anaesthetist is assisted by a specialist nurse: the anaesthetic nurse. Every anaesthesia facility is fitted with appropriate equipment which is verified against a checklist in line with current best practice recommendations before each use to ensure maximum safety.
